Champ libre

approach:

Many of my works deal with point of view and perception. They question our identity, our knowledge, beliefs, self-awareness and existence.

This work, based on an intuitive approach, proposes image ideas that question our conception of reality. The apparent seduction of matter carries surprises and contrasts and informs our new, unexpected relationships. Forms play with the paradoxes of distance and proximity, technique and emotion, the sacred and the profane.

In this narrative space, a glass bead can be perceived as an element in a necklace or a rosary, an atom, a star, a dash of paint, a connecting dot, a marker for the passage of time. The different visual scales merge to create a metaphorical, poetic space that magnifies and transforms reality. Boundaries and distinctions merge and the spectator is invited to construct the work’s meaning through analogy and metaphor.

Réflexion botanique proposes the concept of free field as a poetic space where the work’s elements are revealed through their mirror reflection. These games of perception ask the spectator to question her vision of things and of herself.  The spectator’s perception and perspective become the key to unlock infinite internal space.
