CIRCA Residency 2019

CIRCA art actuel, Montreal

 EXHIBITION Title:

CIRCA Residency 2019

approach:

In the summer of 2019, during the CIRCA residence, I occupied the small room to create an installation resulting from research I’d conducted in recent years.  To begin, I used the space to suspend my work entitled Robe Voie lactée. Floating above the gallery, the dress appears to be in flight. I created lighting to evoke a celestial sphere where the dress represents the Milky Way.

To correspond with the organic collection of ears, on another wall I drew a huge ear. Using archives of my previous works, I superimposed and juxtaposed slides, digital prints and watercolours to tell the story of creation and the artist’s studio. The studio is represented as an attentive ear receptive to inner space. The heart listens and all parts of this inner space lend an ear to capture the echo. Echo of the current that vibrates within: a current composed of many layers of sense, strata of awareness, a superposition of archives and archetypes in dialogue with art history, with the present, with nature. The workshop encompasses the totality of inner perception. The movement of phenomena ebbs and flows, born of inner silence. One’s being in suspension expands, sparkles, shines and imagines itself.
